Soapnuts are highly valued by the rural people of India for washing clothes and as a naturally produced shampoo for washing their hair and for getting rid of dandruff. This is why some botanists have named the species as Sapindus detergens.

Soapnuts are highly-effective and gentle at the same time. It will leave your laundry fresh and clean and compared to other powder detergents, its mildness will keep colours bright, maintaining fabric structure of your clothes for longer periods. It can be used on all fabrics and at all temperatures from 30. C - 90. C. Great for all washing machines especially energy efficient machines & great for all allergy sufferers.

Inside the bag there will be a mixed of whole and broken shells. This does not affect the efficacy of the soapnuts. There also may be variation of colours due to the time the soapnuts were harvested, which also doesn't affect their efficacy.

Convert for life

I was skeptical about soapnuts being effective but after reading Staying Alive in Toxic Times by Dr Jenny Goodman, I was pushed to make the switch to try and reduce our toxic load as much as possible.

I’ve found these clean our clothes just as well as commercial detergent and with the addition of some lavender essential oil, they smell lovely too. I’ve always used white vinegar as a softener so this pairs well.
I live in London and we have fairly hard water so we found that 6 soapnuts is good and we’re getting around 4 washes done on the same 6 soapnuts before they need to be composted.

Very clean clothes!
