I was a little anxious to try these, especially as the first wash consisted of cloth training pants, which, to be honest, even a very well known brand of washing powder had failed to shift the urine smell from (sorry if tmi!). I used 6 pieces of soapnut shell in the drum, a spoonful of sodium bicarb in the powder drawer and white vinegar with a few drops of lavender essential oil as fabric softener. The washing came out perfectly, looking clean, with not even a trace of lingering wee smell. So pleased!!!!

Many years ago I developed allergies which included over the shelf soaps and cosmetics. I could no longer use the soap powder to wash clothes, soap and soap related products to wash myself and my hair etc.…
I was in a difficult place trying to find an alternative, which was not only good for the planet, but also good for me to use.
Searching the internet for many weeks when I came across ‘Living Naturally’ and ‘Soapnuts’.
I researched soapnut’s, how they were used, origins, benefits etc. ‘Living Naturally’ offered good quality soapnuts and advice for their use.
Many years have passed and I only use soapnuts for laundry, and also as a pesticide, and to wash myself.

Admittedly in an attempt to save on postage I purchased soapnuts elsewhere. What a silly thing to do.. Instead of saving money, I wasted it on an inferior product! Learnt my lesson and will be continuing to buy from the best. They are very high quality, thank you so much. My baby daughter has never had chemicals clean her clothes and I intend to keep it that way.

If you have any doubts about moving to soapnuts don't... You will soon detest the stench of chemical cleaning products. They truly work wonders!

These have been great! Despite having a long journey to the U.K, they are the most low-waste and eco-friendly product I could find to wash my clothes with. I've been using them for 2 years and don't want to go back to normal washing powder or liquids. They work well on any clothes of any colour at any washing cycle/ temperature. I don't have any experience with heavy stains, but normal everyday stains come out perfectly fine. I have to say I didn't like the smell of the nuts in the beginning. Just the nuts themselves - they don't make the clothes smell, especially if used with a few drops of essential oil. But now I've become used to it and actually like smelling the bag, ha. I love how long they last (I've been on my 1kg bag for almost a year!) and that Living Naturally sells them in reusable cotton bags and offers bulk refills, as most other shops I've seen them in only offer small quantities in plastic bags.

I got this because shop washing stuff that has no fragrance costs a small fortune! I have been unsing soapnuts for 3 months now and my clothes are so much softer and no more itchy skin and my dogs no longer keep on biting and itching them selves becuase of the harsh stuff they put in cleaning product. This was the best swap I've ever done! Plus a large bag like this just seems to last forever and is well worth the money!
