soapnut body scrubGrind up some soapnut powder from your soapnut shells or buy some here. You can either use a blender or a coffee grinder - a coffee grinder will take longer but will produce a finer powder.

Once you have ground the powder, sift and place in an air-tight container. To keep it from getting hard only grind what you need or add silica gel bags to your container.

Shelf-life is indefinite as long as the soapnut powder is stored in a cool and dry place. Soapnut powder may settle and become hard, just run it through the food processor again.

  1. Mix equal parts of soapnut powder and floral water to create a paste.

  2. You can also add 5 - 10 drops of essential oil to create a soft luxurious body scrub.

Raw Sugar

Carrier Oil (Jojoba, wheatgerm or Olive)

1 tbsp Essential Oil

  1. Add 1 cup of soapnut powder to a mixing bowl.

  2. Add 1/2 cup of raw sugar to soapnut powder.

  3. Add 2-3 tablespoons of either: jojoba oil, wheatgerm oil or olive oil to dry mixture.

  4. To finish add 1 tablespoon of essential oil: lavender, ylang ylang, grapefruit, neroli, jasmine or rose are great!

  5. Mix all the ingredients together and place into a clean air-tight container or jar ready for use.

1/2 cup of Dried Citrus Peel

Commercial Cream / Liquid Cleanser

  1. Blend 1/2 cup of dried citrus peel until fine (totally dehydrated lemon, orange or grapefruit peel) and add to a mixing bowl.
  2. Add an equal amount of soapnut powder to mixing bowl.
  3. Add a small amount of commercial cream or liquid cleanser.
  4. Mix all ingredients well and store in a clean air-tight container or jar.

This has a long-shelf life, so you can make it as a great gift.
